Local dads cycle one mile for every child at Footsteps

We held a Christmas Fair in Abingdon market square on Saturday 10th November and raised a total of £664 for Footsteps Foundation. Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped out in the lead up to the event and on the day itself. Our fundraising committee have been fantastic and we appreciate the support from the Wallingford Barclays branch and Sutton Courtenay WI. The Oxford Bead Shop and Lapis Lizard also donated 10% of their sales on the day to Footsteps.

In addition, local dads Julian and Andy cycled 132 miles on the spot in four hours. They set themselves the challenge to cycle one mile for every child at Footsteps this year and they successfully completed the challenge in just under four hours. They raised £184 for Footsteps Foundation – well done!

Committee coffee morning

Footsteps Foundation’s fundraising committee organised a coffee morning at The Red Lion pub in Chalgrove on 26 October. Lots of home-made cakes were donated and guests had plenty to choose from. Committee member Jenny also held a cake sale at work and the two events together raised a total of £466 for Footsteps. Thank you to everyone involved in making it a success.

Christmas Fair – 10 November

Footsteps Foundation will be holding a Christmas Fair on Saturday 10th November in Abingdon Market Square to raise money and awareness for the charity.

Everyone is welcome to come along and join us between 10am and 2pm. There will be children’s toys and books for sale as well as handmade crafts and homemade cakes. There will be some great prizes to be won in the Christmas raffle and fun and games for the children too. And if that’s not enough, keep your eye out for our Turbo Cycle Challenge! Two local Footsteps dads will be attempting to cycle a ‘mile for every child’ in just four hours. What a fantastic challenge!

We hope to see you there!

Footsteps Filmstars!

It’s been a busy week at the Footsteps Centre! We have just finished filming for our first professional film which documents the lives of Footsteps families and shows how the Footsteps therapy programme continues to make a positive difference to the lives of many children.

Thank you to all those who have contributed to the project and a special thanks to Tracy Christie for volunteering her time and expertise to the project.

We are very excited to see the finished product at the end of the year! And if that’s not enough, we will soon be working with a group of students from Oxford Brookes University who will also be producing a short film for Footsteps. Watch this space!

Lions hear footsteps

The Goring & District Lions Club invited our Fundraiser Clare to attend a dinner evening on Monday 8th October. After a superbe meal, she was given the opportunity to talk about Footsteps and the difference we can make to families with disabled children. She walked away with a generous donation of £1,500 from the Club which will fund a three week therapy session for a local child and also contribute towards the Equipment Bank Project. Thank you to all of the Lions for their contribution to Footsteps Foundation!
