Boswells go bonkers for Footsteps

IMG_3474As part of the support that Boswells of Oxford are offering to Footsteps Foundation over the next year, the team held a fundraising weekend over the October half term and raised lots of money and awareness for Footsteps.

The team organised a number of activities including raffles and treasure hunts so there was lots going on to keep the children entertained while the adults shopped for Christmas presents!

We think the team look fantastic in their red Footsteps t-shirts! They raised over £200 during the weekend which means their fundraising total since April is £1,673. Well done Boswells and thanks for your support!

Zumba-thon success!

Lydia's Zumbathon 1Footsteps mum and fundraising committee member Lydia Coppola recently organised a charity Zumba-thon event to raise money for Footsteps Foundation and Charlton-On-Otmoor School.

The event was held at the Kidlington and Gosford Leisure Centre and Lydia organised  some great local zumba instructors to lead the way. Locals showed their support by taking part in the two-hour zumba-thon and entering the raffle and many treated themselves to the selection of cakes on offer after all the hard work!

Thanks to Lydia and her team of helpers, made up of other Footsteps mums – Sharon Parr, Tara Aitken and Vicky Lamb, the event raised a fantastic £345, half of which Lydia donated to Footsteps Foundation on Monday morning as her daughter began her three-week therapy session at Footsteps.

A huge thank you to Lydia and her helpers for all their hard work!

Conservatory fundraising project supported by Premier

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Footsteps Centre has recently had a lovely new conservatory built onto the back of the family room. Thanks to Premier Lifestyles Conservatories, we now have a larger, lighter and more spacious area for families to relax in. It has certainly been well used since it was finished in July and the families are enjoying the extra space.

The building of the conservatory is part of an on-going fundraising project supported by Premier. The local company have already raised £500 towards the building costs and they hope to raise even more over the course of the year. Here’s what business owner Alan May had to say:

“I am truly delighted to be partnered with Footsteps.  The work you do is remarkable and to see the results you achieve with the children is wonderful.  I hope that Premier can play an important part in helping with fundraising.  If everyone can spread the word that 5% will be donated for any business introduced through Footsteps, we should achieve a lot together. “

So, if you are thinking about getting a conservatory built, or are interested in getting new windows, doors, orangeries, and garden rooms we would certainly recommend the services of Premier Lifestyle Conservatories. You can contact them directly for a quote at quotes@premier-conservatories.com and be sure to mention Footsteps Foundation, as 5% will be donated to our valuable work.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAlan and the team at Premier have also kindly donated a number of the adorable looking Baxter Bears. We have some at Footsteps which are on sale for £10 each. £5 of this will be a donation to Footsteps Foundation. Please get in touch (info@footstepsfoundation.com) if you would like one – they make great gifts for the children at the end of a therapy session!

We want to say thanks to Alan and his team for their on-going support.

School girls fund a footstep

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYoung school girls Rosie and Ruby recently travelled all the way from their home town in Cardiff to the Footsteps Centre after raising money for the Foundation at a school fair.

The girls heard about Footsteps through four year old Ollie, who lives locally to them and visits Footsteps twice a year. They wanted to raise money to help Ollie and other children to access the Footsteps therapy programme. They have raised a total of £172.39 over the summer, which will fund  over three hours of therapy for disabled children. They have done a great job and we thank them for their efforts!

On their visit to Footsteps, they spent some time with Chloe when she was having ‘Spider’ therapy, and the girls are now interested in pursuing careers in physiotherapy and fundraising… watch this space!
